11/19/2022 0 Comments Dawn of war dark crusade tau strategyTHQ is even giving away video cards to get gamers fired up. Think you can do better? The demo premieres on FilePlanet this Friday. We had to use every ounce of the Tau's firepower just to claw our way forward. In fact, your base is being shelled from the very start of the mission. Way outnumbered, you'll have to fight your way out of the corner. This mission has scripted cut-scenes built-in, starting with the two faction leaders taunting one another and moving on to show Marine reinforcements raining from the sky as you advance. You're tasked with conquering a fortified citadel held by the Blood Ravens, who have promised to fight to the last man. The second mission doesn't get any easier. In fact, if you take too long diddling around in your home area, the computer will have enough of the map to start the win countdown in just a couple of minutes. The computer is very aggressive and will be all over your base if you don't build your initial forces fast. The first is a simple skirmish mission where you'll fight to wrest control of the map from a CPU opponent. If you're new to the Dawn of War franchise, you're in for a tough fight - the battles are quick and brutal and not very friendly for noobs. Both of the demo missions involve you using the Tau against well-equipped Space Marines. You'll learn fast to make sure that the enemy doesn't flank your forces and engage your Fire Caste warriors up close. but if it falls apart, it really falls apart. When it's going well, it feels like the Tau are unstoppable. Because some of the higher-end Tau weaponry isn't available in the demo, this strategy is absolutely key to laying waste to massive armies of the Space Marines you'll be fighting off in the demo. Kroot shock-troops rush forward to engage the enemy, holding them back long enough for the Fire Caste warriors to level them with withering rifle fire. From these two core units, a Tau strategy emerges. They're not the best melee units in the game, but they don't have to be - they just need to hold the enemy at bay. These vicious aliens love nothing more than to spring across the terrain to tear the face off of their opponents, alien-style. YES NO The Tau found an answer to this limitation with one of the many races that they've enlisted into their cause: the Kroot. The catch is that they have absolutely no melee ability whatsoever - go toe-to-toe with anyone on the map and they'll hit the floor faster than a dot-com stock option. The backbone of the Tau infantry, the Fire Caste warriors, can rain devastating fire on your opponents. Mobility and firepower are the keys to the Tau offensive: they build highly technical units with great range and awesome damage. After all, the Tau are about guns, guns, guns. For veterans, building up a Tau army isn't drastically different from managing the other factions, although their tactics on the battlefield take a little getting used to. The demo consists of a tutorial (aimed at players new to the franchise) and two missions. The single-player demo focuses on the might of the Tau, a technological race of zealots whose idea of "Harmony and Enlightenment" is to shoot first and never ask questions. Dawn of War is unique among expansion packs in that it also serves as a standalone game - making it a good 'gateway game' for anyone out there who for some reason missed the original. This Friday the Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War: Dark Crusade expansion pack demo will be unleashed on FilePlanet, but we managed to get our mitts on a build of the demo a few days early to see what's in store.
